its not my perception of influence on HC, its the posters perception of their influence. But then they might belong to a network and believe they can make a difference.
There was a thread recently in Politics forum that talked about people being paid to influence general public on forums. The best example was the number of chinese people being paid by their gov to sell the 'right' message. So again, not usually, but who knows.
