I was not in favour of the SA bid from the beginning. However, because it was for battery storage (their area of expertise), they may have been able to pull it off with the help of Lendlease.
They were knocked off by the workd's biggest battery company. Was anyone surprised there?
Going up against solar farm companies that specialise only in that, is quite different. They would be going up against companies that have built 100+MW farms. These massive farms are just that, thousands of panels. They are there just to generate power when the sun is shining.
The biggest solar array that EMC has built so far is about 2MW. They have all been in remote areas or edge of grid locations. They have been specifically built to include battery storage.
The applications are like cheese and chalk.
