The conventional method for separation of REEs into individual or groups of elements is solvent extraction (SX). MRT is a new and different technology to do the same.
I am yet to see any evidence that it is better or more cost effective. Undoubtedly Ucore will promote it as much better but until (if) they do its just another developing technology that may or may not be a replacement for SX in the future. I'm betting on the latter.
