China does not have normal relations with countries. They do not treat other nations as equals but as vassals.
Xi is simply putting things back to normal. This is the Qing dynasty way. China invaded Burma, Korea and wants to restore its imperial borders. That means accepting a role of vassal state with Australia. Chinese companies acquiring ports mines with hundreds of thousands of Chinese workers living here in territory acquired from Australia for Chinese companies.
It's just all going down hill and there isn't much to do to stop it.
Also, there is stuff going on we are not being told such as the Chinese subs in Australian waters.
