Thanks. That's an excellent article and appears to confirm my accountant's opinion. Another year gives time to plan ahead.
For instance, Commsec charges $50+ to transfer a parcel (ie one company's holding) from an individual account to a superfund account held in the same name(a 50% discount to that if you have a heap). That is broker to broker, even though they are the same broker, the crooks.
However, if you have them converted back to issuer holdings and then do the transfer to Commsec s/f acc there is no charge.
Alternatively, you are able to transfer to another broker from the individual account and from there to the commsec superfund account at no charge.
The thing is, you need a bit of time to do this, so if the law isn't passed and doesn't apply till 2013 it can be done in a considered way with all the information.
