Just noticed this conversation on DTR and thought I'd make a contribution. Lucky, the answer as to why your order wasn't filled despite being head of the queue is simple and not underhanded. You might be top bidder at 0.9 cents and rightfully expect that the next trade at that price will rightfully be with you. However, once there's been a single trade at that price it becomes the "prevailing price" and all brokers are then entitled to do trades internally (ie. in house between their own clients) at that price without selling to you. My recollection is also that two different brokers are also entitled to sidestep the ASX "order ladder" and do deals with each other at the "prevailing price" as long as they register the trades with the ASX afterwards.
