There ARE hundreds of example....
I concede that, RIGHT NOW, the % may be small.
But such companies DO exist. I hear people saying that there is not now and will never be ANY need for such file transfer speeds.
That statement isn't correct TODAY let alone in the future.
"I don't believe the government when it says the NBN is self funding."
ok... Is this based on any analysis of the plan or have you just DECIDED not to believe it... much like lots of people DECIDE to believe that smoking doesn't increase cancer rates.
I mean, speak honestly, before I mentioned it, did you even know the difference between megaBITS/sec and megaBYTES/sec???
Have you (honestly) taken time on the weekends to (objectively) review the plan and, as a result of this work, come to the conclusion that the NBN won't pay for itself? or have you just DECIDED that it won't pay for itself?
btw - even if it DOESN'T pay for itself, let me ask you this...
does a primary school pay for itself?
does a hospital?
sure - maybe in indirect ways they end up paying for themselves... but DIRECTLY? they're a massive SINK!
The question is,
SHOULD (not DOES) a super-modern, NATIONAL, telecommunications network that will remain competitive for 60 years be REQUIRED to DIRECTLY pay for itself???
maybe we should only be asking for indirect returns on our investment....
