"Do you think businesses needing to transfer dozens/hundreds of GB per day are commonplace, or don't already have a high speed service in place?"

yes and yes, but not all sites have ability to access the higher speed service.

thousands of documents and drawing are accessed across the nation from various servers every day (3d solidworks type drawings are now all the rage and are a lot bigger files than your standard autocad or 2d scan)

productivity increase? sure. For example go and see what a maintenance planner does in Newman when he hits print on his weekly work order pack. It will be grabbing documents from perth, sending them to Brisbane where it meets the work order from coming from Melbourne to compile them together to send back to the printer in Newman. Complete with drawings for some and pretty pictures for the boilermakers.

generally it is a good time for , coffee, smoke, general chitchat while they carry out their task of 'preparing the weeks work'.

This is happening thousands of time across the country every day at hundreds of sites and businesses.

It is a shame that many people have the view that the nbn is all about the internet. just because your only exposure to moving data is the internet , it doesn't mean that that is all nbn would be used for.

nbn is a winner, even at 100Billion I still cant understand how they can build something so good so cheaply
