Your analogy is a good one with just two additional comments from me. Maccas doesn't just make a bunch of random burgers HOPING they will be bought. they know what is likely to be bought well before the customer arrives. same with big. the key is customer profiling, Co location and analytics to determine who and where the best customer prospects are and make the right amount of burgers.

also the BIG Maccas store in question does not throw away the waste burgers. they put them on display in their preserved burger museum and make money from it there in perpetuity!!!
