When is the taxing point?
This is a key issue the point at which relevant revenues and costs are determined for the purpose of assessing RSPT. The Government canvasses a number of options from a taxing point set close to the point of extraction of the resources versus a later stage, such as when a saleable commodity exists. The former was favoured "in principle" by the Henry Review and the Government suggests the latter as a "practical approach". In consultation, the Government will explore whether a flexible approach to setting the taxing point is feasible.
