Yes cashincline health and deficits are very much in focus with PM Rudd ready to put the screws on states if they dont address the issue of emergency wards in hospitals. I think all States are suffering and even Western Australia that now has a Liberal government is struggling. They need to start working quickly on this as it was reported today that sceduled surgery is having to be deferred as the public hospitals cant cope with emergency cases. The Liberal WA premier inherited a surplus from the previous government, as far as I am aware, so there are expectations that he has to get on with it and fix the hospitals. It was reported not that long ago that the Liberal Premier would if circumstances justify go into deficit and if that is to occur I would hope hospitals at least will be fixed.
