Empire begins copper-gold drill

PERTH-based Empire Resources has started a drilling program aimed at proving up one of WA's more recent high-grade copper-gold discoveries.

Its twin reverse-circulation (RC) and diamond core drilling program is operating on Empire's promising Yuinmery project, south of Sandstone in WA's central mid-north.

The schedule includes three diamond holes on the Just Desserts prospects as well as an equally deep hole on the C Zone target at Yuinmery, backed by a selection of RC drill targets and precollaring work.

It is the first major drill campaign on Yuinmery since the company announced a JORC-compliant indicated resource estimate of 1.07-million tonnes grading 1.82 per cent copper and 0.78gpt gold from shallow drilling of the project's Just Desserts prospect.

Empire managing director David Sargeant said the potential to readily upgrade Yuinmery's potential was significant as the mineralisation remained open at depth and along strike.
