Absolutely nothing wrong with trading the big cos. The small cos are often a lottery. The big ones have a lot of eyes, a lot of press and a lot of analysis and I find it is easier to form a more accurate conclusion on their underlying value, regulatory risk and trend. One can also trade the big cos with options which allows a clear limit on losses to be set when the strategy is setup at the beginning and you can also gear when you think there is something that is a high probability so that a small move in your favour is amplified (of course the reverse is true too).
