I was referring to Westport, as stated the port was capable of doing a million tonnes pa in its existing condition.Whilst I’m well aware that the present management have no wish to use the port, whereas the previous ones were intent of using the port as Solid had rail tied up , a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then.
No company should ever put all its eggs in one basket, as the floods of recent times show rail is precarious, one big quake and nothing will move for 6 months or so, you only have to look at the Picton - Christchurch rail link which was out of use for a considerable time after the Kaikoura quake.
