This seems like a shaggy dog story not sure where its going!!... Barrtown JV was declined consent for mining minerals and trucking to Westport for shipment recently. West coast minerals are on the same bandwagon trucking from Okari through to Westport, they also have to get consent. So don't hold your breath!
The Labour Government handed some $ 7 million to the West Coast for upgrading ports and looking for new ventures. These companies are trying to spend that for their own respective benefits, their intention was to ship from the old Holcim wharf where the silos have been removed , that berth is falling into disrepair in as much that the back sheathing is collapsing, the berth will require dredging too.
We will see where it all leads.
