" ...with higher interest rates from the Federal Reserve"
What I find interesting, is the Fed could increase rates, in two years, about 1/10th of a percent, and then declare 'our work is done'.
We need to work out how to invest in an environment where interest rates will be near zero forever. Pity any retiree thinking safe term deposits in the bank can help them (forget about bail ins for now). Actually, as I think, I wonder how insurance companies are doing with annuities. Surely they must be underwater - unless they simply bought long term bonds to match the promised flow to the annuitant. If the company promised annuities based on conservative bond, fixed interest, investment returns... and those returns die... that could be a problem. Maybe insurance companies can bail OUT annuitants. I mean kick them out.
I am positive the US can actually create any numbers they like. So if there is a bad set, then behind the scenes the patching and rewording and re-spinning will begin.
But, we continue to have this huge coverup for a depression. Money is flooded in. But nobody (normal business, normal guy) can afford to take the money on board (borrow it). And nobody can repay debt. So we have all these gazillions of fiat sitting doing nothing. We have all these gazillions of debt not being repaid.
Honestly, all4... cannot these 'weekly/monthly' number keep rolling out forever, and no body takes notice. Maybe I am jaded. But zero interest rates and 2% inflation means real interest rates are MINUS 2%. A wonderful time to invest in gold. But not.
You cant invest in cash, as you know it is fiat. If you just cover your eyes, you can invest in cash and pretend it is all OK. You cant invest in real estate, unless you cover your eyes and pretend it really does go up forever. You cannot borrow from the bank, unless you cover up your eyes and dont see the depression.
These are crazy days. If you see what is happening - and invest accordingly... you lose. If you close your eyes and pretend all is normal, you are setting yourself up for one huge fall.
I know... I will go and have a beer.
