    GMCG,

What on earth were you expecting?

There is a very clear reason why K-Mart's prices are what they are, and why their shops are presented as they are. K-Mart are appealling to a very particular market - both in terms of price and presentation. You are obviously not that market.

In effect, they are simply a very large warehouse with modestly presented stock which has been secured in bulk and at a very low price. The stock is arranged throughout the store for people to come in, decided whether or not they wish to buy it, then proceed to the checkout to make payment. K-Mart makes no allusions to 'superior service' or 'guarunteed to be in stock' etc. K-Mart are not obliged to provide service staff to be at your beck-and-call, and their low prices reflect this. To you, the customer, they are to merely provide low-paid checkout staff to assist in payment of your goods. It's simply a case of take it or leave it.

However, GMCG, you seem to expect to pay next to nothing for your goods, and then expect 1st-class service. You were not only angry when they didn't wait on you hand-and-foot, you also became irrate when they didn't go above and beyond their call of duty to secure you a product that they had sold out of.

Simple stuff mate - you get what you pay for. Did you perhaps think of tipping the staff member a few dollars (on top of their $17/hr rate) to help them oblige with your unreasonable demands? Could've saved yourself a $20 round trip in petrol expense in tyring your luck with that BBQ?

Of course you didn't. Because you didn't think of it.
