Under listing rule 17.1 the request can be made by various means but guidance note 16 "Trading Halts", section 10, specifies:
"If the initial request is not in writing, it must be confirmed in writing."
I guess the question then is how long they have to do this and whether a subsequent written request will be disclosed.
...ah hold on. (Reading whilst typing) Section 11 allows for a written request for TH not to be released if it contains sensitive information. In this case the company can mark it "Not for public release". In this case, the written request would be made, but not put on the ASX web site.
There is probably nothing in this at all. Just a distraction whilst the clock is ticking....
