Probably best to for go personal cheques and use a bank cheque/money order or direct deposit. You wouldn't want to forget you issued a personal oneandd someone tries to cash it way down track and for what ever reason the funds or account doesn't exist and you get a credit rating strike! I gather cheques were more common prior to direct debit, eftpos, PayPal and wide spread use of credit cards, to name a few. I suppose everyone would have a bank account, for direct deposits. Most institutions deposit direct. Safer and more efficient for them. I still recall the days when you got paid cash. Those were the days, where you watched it disappear rather than be debited........;)
