Thats right, Joshua Slocum it was. I had trouble finding details of his disappearance. Thanks for the reference to Wikipedia there, jsuth. His was an interesting story, and it seems he had good reason to "disappear". Maybe he did live out his life on an island somewhere. Lets hope so.
