look forget the record date...you got to buy the shares before the x.divvy date.. if x-divvy is say the 5th you must buy them on the 4th or ealier. now unless your getting more the $5,oooin divvy you can sell them the day after ( x-divvy day or after)... if your total divvy that year will be more than 5K you have to hold for at least 45 days from when you buy to when you sell. or you will not be aloud to claim the franking credit.
be careful a company share price falls at least and many time more the divvy you get on x.divvy day
