It is good to see more posters looking closely at the US because that is what determines how the big guns fire!
The earlier report on the weakness in the US housing market was proven to have been over stated.
"It disclosed the pace of existing home sales fell for a fifth straight month, hitting a 6.3 million unit annual rate. - But it was not as bleak as analysts had expected. - Year over year, US home prices fell 1.7 per cent to average $225,000, the first fall since April 1995. - The inventory of homes for sale was up 1.5pc to 3.918 million units - a 7.5 month supply and the highest since April 1993."
Thus the current opinion is: the housing market in the US remains healthy.
