For anyone interested in a follow-up of the brief discussion last week about shorting of TLX, the following has become apparent as ASIC has reported on outstanding shorts up to last Thursday (27 Jan):

• to recap on my previous post (28 Jan), ASX reported around 2.5m new shorts (ie sells) on 24/25/27 Jan, after the trading halt
• ASIC reports on those three days confirm an increase in outstanding TLX shorts of 1.58m shorts (to 3.13m)

So it is now very clear that the significant drop in the share price after the CR trading halt was "helped" along by effectively a nett 1.58m sells on those 3 days which obviously we could have done without!

On the subsequent three days (28/31 Jan & 1 Feb), the TLX share price changes were -2.95%/+8.81%/+4.27%. ASX reported new shorts on those three days were 393k/366k/217k, still significant numbers.

What the ASIC reports in the next few days on outstanding shorts will show is whether the share price rises this time are being "helped" upwards by some perhaps short squeezing buys - & if the shorters haven't exited by now (at $7.39), they will be underwater from their recent activities!
