Come on, you know better than that.
Apart from the new Leaf being significantly upgraded cosmetically, it has more power ( 30-40% increase ) and has a range increase of almost two and a half times.
Imagine that increase in performance of an ice car in that timeframe ?
The new leaf is also capable of power sharing with the grid.
That is a major difference taking it from a car that suited a very small group of buyers to where it is now practical for millions of drive.
Particularly as it is still only a niche vehicle when you consider how many vehicles Nissan makes and sells.
Back in the day very few evs were getting developed when Nissan was first building the ev. Given that all the main manufacturers and many other new companies are building evs now, I would argue that will the rate of improvement will only get better over the next 8 years quite easily.
