Not only that but Xstrata's moves/comments to date INTIMATE that this MAY turn out to be the way they want to push things by incorporating a possible smelter op.
As has been noted numerous times they appear to have given up on large mergers/aquisitions and are now following the ORGANIC approach via greenfields projects.
