Wong isn't siding with Hamas. she has made the same point that former British Conservative PM, David Cameron, has made; that the 2 state soln will remove Hamas from the equation and enable greater stability for Palestinian people. the protection afforded by statehood provides sovereignty, enable Palestine to protest in the UN as a full state to protest Israeli invasions of their land and removes some of the most objectionable disagreements with Israel wrt the illegal settlements. it will also define the boundaries of the state and provide Palestine with legitimacy and the ability to fully manage their own resources.

finally statehood will enable Palestine people to hold full, legal elections. this will remove Hamas from their position in Gaza as they are a terrorist group and not a political party.
