sounds good in theory. the reality is that the market makes most of its gains in just a couple of days sometime. So you are sitting there with all this cash and the market takes off like a rocket, the amount is so much you think this has got to be a dead cat bounce, so you stay out. Then goes up again. Next thing you know, you've missed all the gains and all you have is pile of cash that has no capital gains and is slowly being eaten away by taxes and inflation.
