Pecs, the Black Panter movement lasted less then a decade. From what I can remember they were a group whose members were exclusively black and whose primary purpose was to undo the injustice inflicted upon them by the white folk. Social, legal, legislative, religious, etc. They were formed to protect the African Americans from the non-African Americans. In the beginning they were very violent but then became much softer. I don't remember how or when or if they disbanded but one hardly hears of them any more. I'm not sure whether you could classify them politically as a "Left" wing group. More like a wide vigilante group.
