For your information, Audiopixel, previously based in Israel, planned in 2010 to show a prototype at the CES 2010 in Las Vegas. The news was relayed in this interesting article about MEMS technologies, posted roughly a year ago :

I don't actually know if they really did or not.

However, I'm 100% confident this technology actually works. A company doesn't radically change its own business from Real Estate to some Audio Technology without having at least a prototype running and some chances of success...
