My webiress has two accounts on the one platform, one for equities and one for DMA CFDs. On more than one occassion I have shorted a stock via my CFD account rather than selling shares that I hold in my equities account. Such a trade can be quite difficult to unwind if the stock is relatively illiquid. Last time it happened was on CDU at $3.40, I had to buy shares back on my CFD account to square up the short on that account, then sell the shares in my equity account to dispose of my CDU shares as per my original intention.
I have to take the kids to school at about 8:20am each morning (10:20am Sydney time), but I quite often trade in the 8:10am to 8:20am time period as well. In the rush to do several things at once, get lunches ready, kids long hair done, etc., errors occur unfortunately.
Back to BHP, if the USA doesn't absolutely tank I will be looking for a long trade at about $29 according to all the lines drawn on my chart. If the USA does absolutely tank, then I will be looking for an extra large long trade at $20.
