ameliustag has made a good point, there is little focus on the structural geology of surprise1 in this thread. it seems a 'classic' anticlinal formation for oil but the focus seems to be on the 'tightness' of the geological formations. this may well be a positive for surprise1 as the capping required is the 'tightness' but the fracturing comes from the structural deformation in the anticlinal formation?
the localised deformation could well provide the natural fracture and pressure to liberate the hydrocarbons present?
