writedowns are applied through the balance sheet - carrying value of assets, and are also expensed through the p&l, hence resulting in a lower earnings number, thereby resulting in a higher p/e ratio
if U was scarce relative to demand one would expect players to use higher U price in there cameco stock valuation models and cameco would not be so cheap relative to where its price was prior to fukishima
