A good job of bending the truth there, Hingdog. By far the majority of Australian fires in the summer of 74/75 were not wildfires at all. They were IN FACT fuel reduction burns conducted by station owners in Cape York and the Gulf country (not wildfires). The balance were mostly grass fires in the interior, which were left to burn because they posed no threat to people or assets.
So yes, you are right in as much as 115 million hectares were burnt in 74/75, but they were mostly low intensity fuel reduction burns and or grass fires in unpopulated regions.
