Aerial Imagery Provider Introduces 3D Data

Esri UC 2017 returned to beautiful San Diego, California and POB attended. During our time on the show floor, we stopped by the NearMap booth to learn about the launch of its new 3D aerial imagery.


Nearmap has a reputation for collecting and providing 2D orthomosaic aerial imagery as a subscription-based service. Now the company is also offering high-resolution oblique imagery and derivative 3D products.
The company was at Esri UC 2017 in San Diego, so POB stopped by the booth and asked about what the new 3D data launch means for the geospatial community. We interviewed Patrick Quigley, senior vice president and general manager of Nearmap North America, who expressed that the collection of oblique imagery means users will have the opportunity to more closely replicate reality through 3D data sets. He also pointed out that it creates new applications for Nearmap data.
“The main value that we bring is we allow people to do from their desk what they typically go out in the field to do,” Quigley says.
