G'day xonline, take it from this 59 year old, the best thing you can do is read, read, read. Books on technical analysis, company reports, tip sheets etc. It all helps but in the end it's you against yourself. You need to find the approach to the markets that suits your psychology best. Some folks are traders moving in and out quickly, others buy and hold for a while with a whole spectrum of approaches in between. Work our what's best for you and stick to it... Best of luck.
