''What will you be doing on Monday and what did you do on Friday.''

you are correct ----------- Almost all of France doesn't have days off like Oz for Easter - the exception is the Monday

so, Friday, Saturday, Sunday are normal days ---------- Monday is not.

There are 3 (from memory) departments in the East near the border which are different - they do have Friday as a public holiday. (I assume that they have boxing day as well - France in general doesn't do boxing day - it's a normal day).

Those 3 departments are different in many ways though - including differences in social security - the differences come from history of border changes etc..

As to 'taking days off' ------------ well, in general for me - every day is a day off - kinda
