The weighting of ones portfolio into sectors and individual stocks is something unique to each portfolio.
It would be based on a balance of potential return and risk.
In the case of PLV, consider the situation if the island owners or Government agencies were not to allow mining. To invest in this stock one must be prepared to loose all of one's investment. Therefore invest what one can afford to loose.
For mine, it is currently about 7% PLV and I also hold shares in 10 mining stocks with the whole range of derisking.
