Towie: interesting info, thank you for that. The DD code is something I didn't know about. As for the Chess...as soon as CPU process the form you own em, full stop. The register is god when it comes to ownership. If the broker's have to catch up with that then so be it. My broker will sell them as soon as they've been processed by CPU. The broker's back office can confirm with CPU that the shares are available. I've had days when the info's taken a day or two to get from CPU to my Chess registration, but it didn't stop me from transacting. Now, however, if you use Etrade or other non-relationship brokers, then yes, you probably do have to wait. This is yet another advantage of not using online brokers.
