hessian sacks (wet of course) were the best we had when I was a kid. and the fires weren't always small. they were small at first and thats why every flame had to be beaten out. thats what I was taught very early in life.
yep fires were the greatest danger for any farmer and farmers didn't have much help other than other farmers. thats how the RFS was started.
if fires weren't stopped when they were small they soon enough became big fires.
global warming has increased the danger from bushfires far beyond what our grandparents experienced.
