have to weigh up the risk vs reward to define 'safe' here, IMO the reward out weighs the risk but you need to have VPG as part of your balanced portfolio not VPG as your portfolio, and IMO a basket of shares like VPG ('like' menaing shares where the general consensus is they have been over sold by instos trying to liquidate and are undervalued) then an alpha return is likely in 2009. Good luck, but if I was buying in I'd accumulate some today and wait till the middle of next week to buy the rest of them.
