To my way of thinking, SIA do well because, firstly, they seem to be a cheaper alternative to Qantas, yet have a reputation for probably superior service. Also, they aren't seen as a dodgy airline that crashes all the time.additionally, their frequency of service means there is a flight when you want it, with plenty of alternatives if you need to move your flight times around a bit.
Also, when I did a little bit of research on seat guru before we flew to London last year, I found their economy seats in their A380s and A330s were probably the widest you'll find.
Another also, their Krisworld in flight entertainment system is very good.
