Perhaps we should take some serious steps to stamp of untoward
interference in politics by corporations; particuluarily foreign owned
Multinations.
IMO our first move could be to ban all forms of political donations
because, apart from agressive lobbying, donations are the corporate
political weapons of choice.
But I guess the major snag, IMO, is that we have a crop of politicians
who believe in following the market which is defacto following
big business/multinationals who dominate our markets
And of course the avarage Aussie believes that BHP, RIO, the Big 4 Banks
are great Aussie corporations when in fact they are majority foreign owned.
But again, I guess it will take a protracted Recession to motivate the average
Aussie to consider who calls our economic shots and as you astutely remarked above,
its certainly not our "impressionable" pollies.
