No one is being robbed. Some people are just irresponsible.
It is a gamble. One should have responsible gambling habits.
"I have an extra 10 bucks I'm doing nothing with, I could buy a beer or put it in the pokies". By betting it, you accept the fact that you have a high chance of total loss.
People who get their pension and then "decide" to "invest" it all in the pokies are not, by the same token, responsible gamblers.
