The electricity and climate change debate is ongoing. We here in Australia pay amongst the highest prices in the world.
here is my solution...
The government looks at the "Global" situation . So As a simplified example , say Australia sells 100 million tonnes of coal to overseas countries so THEY can burn coal and have cheap electricity, and say Australia would use 10 million tonnes (again a simplified version) Then the government limits exports to 90 Million tonnes, we build coal fired stations and use the 10 million tonnes not exported and halve our power prices.
Mean while there is still 100 Million tonnes burnt so no NET difference, and Aussies are not paying the price in their power bills for the overseas countries burning coal for Electricity.
