the chances of the cloud failing at the precise time in history that your boat has gone to the bottom or your hotel burned to the ground or your camper went over the cliff when you were out walking - I think - is pretty remote
you know what I'm doing - I've been away now collectively for a few years - always at risk
I'd be much more concerned about ID theft or data theft - etc etc - if cards and accounts are compromised - well - what a pain in the r's that would be
loss of cards and all we physically carry with us though - not anywhere near such a problem
you could get accommodation immediately - and, if in a hotel - food. that would give you time to work things out - you would then need comms - initially using the hotel computer - but, get an iphone or similar on the way urgently -
when your card arrives - get a replacement SIM from a vending machine (need the card for that)
You would have contacted your insurances by email - then, when you had the phone up and working - use phone for whatever.
all your copies of pics of papers would be on the cloud
it would, of course be a bloody nightmare - or adventure - depending on your attitude - but, you would be safe and secure with a lot of stories to tell some poor bugger who happened to ask - 'how's it goin?'
without the internet ------------- geesus - where would you even begin??
of course - it would help to not have a bloody pandemic and the place in lockdown- that wouldn't make it easy at all -------- sort of puts a hotel at front and centre because they can feed you as well - a B&B would probably work - if you could find one functioning
I've thought about the secure data thingy when you carry something - but, it's easy to lose anything physical - yes, it would help if it was protected and it was stolen - but, there's a lot more risks out there than that.
