Love long boarding myself Larry, but I have watched too many people get into stocks over the course of this year and not hold them to find out that they have missed out on huge gains. And I mean huge.
If you believe in a stock and have done research into it, then I would say back yourself and stay the course. Stop losses in good companys cost you dearly as good companys bounce back. Everyone gets stopped out and then bargain hunters push it up without you.
You dont have to just be a quick trader. The market I feel is about patient investers taking money from impatient sellers. Day trading is impossible because of the small profit takers. You have to extend your timeframe and believe in charts and your research/ gut feeling.Its a difficult time to make money from stocks.
