Fact is that the changes to super and making it tax free for those in retirement makes very little sense aprt from being a vote buying exercise.
If the government was serious about super reforms they would have dropped or removed the tax on money going into super.
15% of contributions remaining in the fund instead of going out in tax would have a massive compounding effect over a persons working life. to the point the vast majority in years to come would truely be self funding their retirement.
The revenue effects on the government would also be greatly reduced because they would be recieving tax on larger amounts of retirements funds albeit it at a concessional rate.
This though would have required vision form the government something they lack further than winning the next election
