    That's what I did in my very early 20s. Wages were straight in the mortgage but I was fortunate as I had a sig. other; both of our wages were thrown at it and we had a daily/weekly rate back then. Mortgages were paid in 5 - 6 years whilst shivering in the bedroom. Good times yet,

    Times have changed.

    I got out of property in 2004/2005 and missed the property boom and by chance, relied on the resources boom. I was lucky.

    Best advice is to stay out of any other debt and don't become to pretentious in where you would like to live - unless you can develop strata title blocks as I did in my 20s/30s - many are all gone now.

    Buy what you can afford.
