@gumUnderfoot - I don't know why I got involved in this thread seeing that the premise of the thread is medieval - I do not believe in demons or the devil, even though he seems to manifest in some humans.
I am happy to accept that God is full of Grace - a gracious God accepting without question or need to punish.
I can accept Jesus' Sermon of the Mount and live accordingly, or try to, at least.
Seems to me you have all had abusive or non-existent fathers in your earthly existence and you are looking for similar traits in your God.
I am struggling why I lost a loving and beautiful man at age 55 and just recently his and my daughter, who was the best thing we ever produced, beautiful, gifted, hard-working - at the same age. If here is a God he has already been cruel to me, twice and I no longer care for what else he has in store or me.
