Selling to create a loss is legal but it becomes illegal if you sell and then buy in a short timeframe purely with the purpose of creating the loss for tax purposes. If you sell to create a loss then best not to buy back until the new financial year.

Correct. Unfortunately CommSec's tax statements are inadequate for the specific buy/sell record keeping required for tax purposes, re individual parcels.

Have you created your own spread sheets or are you using third party software/spread sheets for such purposes? TIA.
